Depression: Holding Down Your Creative Spirit

Good Day Everyone!

The other day standing the check out line at the grocery store, I caught sight of a headline that said something like, "How will Obama talk us out of a Depression?"

Instantly my thoughts went to the idea that America was suffering from clinical depression, which is reflected in the economy.

The problem is within our psyche, our minds, obscuring our Souls.

According to the World Health Organization, depression is a common affliction and when "treated" or addressed results in improved economic productivity.

What is depression exactly? To my mind, and experience, it is the exhaustion we suffer when we spend every ounce of our energy trying to NOT hear our Inner Godchip, our Spirit, Who We Really Are.

That flame of ours, that Godchip that is ising within us each and every day, is Life insisting itself in and through us. Witness the daisy that pokes itself up through the blacktop and blooms. That same Spirit is insisting that Life flow through each of us.

We resist It. Rather, our human mind resists It. We believe what we read in the papers, we believe what others tell us about who we are and what we can achieve, we doubt ourSelf, and we dwell in the land of ego and human mind.

It, our Godchip knows nothing of impossible or can't. It IS. It knows all things are possible so it keeps on ising away, insisting Life and all Possibilities. The human mind resists these thoughts, and this takes enormous energy to keep the Truth buried.

The normal treatment these days for depression is the administration of anti-depressant drugs, which can for a short time, lift your mood and temporarily make you feel a bit better.

However, the journey of awakening and living a conscious life requires your participation. Certainly you can live on anti-depressants or St. John's Wort for the duration, but you won't feel the magnificence of Life flowing through you as you will when you actually stop resisting your Greatness and become It.

The economic depression is a mirror for the enormous amount of pent up personal Greatness in America. We are becoming Who We Really Are. The ego, the human mind, puts up quite a fight.

Imagine how we will soar when we stop resisting our Godchips and allow ourselves to become Who We Really Are? Magnificent. And, by the way, the world will look so different then, because we will be transformed, first.

It's Attitude, Not Luck

Good Morning Everyone!

It's a winter wonderland in Ohio this morning. I think we have about 10 new inches of snow on the ground this morning. It is lovely; and it is still coming down! I'm heading out soon to make angels in the snow.

I rarely read sports stories, unless of course it is something compelling. Today there is a wonderful Cinderella story on Yahoo News about Sean McHugh of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

I love this story, because it takes place over a short time frame, which helps illustrate the internal energy (attitude) of McHugh.

Just four months ago McHugh was cut from the Detroit Lions, who by the way, have gone 0-16 this season claiming title as worst of the worst. I'll talk about their energy in a minute. However, this "bad" news came on the heels of news that he and his wife we going to have a second baby. Also, they had just purchased a home outside of Detroit. From these two items you can see they were "expanding". They were full of Life - Source Energy. The McHughes were allowing the Flow of Source through them. Skipity Doo Dah! Life is Good.

Mind you, they also had been doing a lot of asking (wishing and desiring) individually and together. So the Big Universe was busy delivering to them as long as they were allowing Source.

Then, seemingly out of nowhere, McHugh gets cut from the Lions. Shock. What the heck?

Fleetingly, like with all of us, there is fear, doubt, and all the other negative emotions. But key here, is that this disallowing was fleeting. I mean, when you get cut from the worst team, how would you feel? But hold on just a minute...they were on a roll of "allowing" and that same night, McHugh gets a call from the Steelers to come on down!

At this point I would like to stop, just a second, and point out the Law of Attraction operating here, which says "like is attracted to like". With the LOA in place, McHugh is a positive little elf, he's buying a home, he's having another baby, he's in LOVE with Life. His energy is not a match to the energy of Detroit and the Lions. So he's gotta move on - by Law -towards his matching vibration and, of course, his Good. So voila! The Steelers know one of their own kind and snatch him up. Like with Like.

The Steelers, as you might know, are heading to the Super Bowl this Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals in Tampa Bay. The best of the best.

In his interview McHugh says, “There is an expectation when you become a Pittsburgh Steeler that you’re going to win,” he said. “And anything less than that is not acceptable. In Detroit it was like you were hoping to win.”

I like this guy. He's actually paying attention to how things feel in the culture of his teams. What he observed tells volumes. In Pittsburg there's the expectation of winning. That's an internal attitude which sees success as "of course". In Detroit, there's the "hope" which has doubt all through it. That's their "internal attitude which is their culture.

The internal attitude = the organization's culture = their vibrational signature which is what the Big Universe is answering. Expect to win = win. Doubt your Good = failure, malaise.

McHughs goes on to say, "It’s a little bit of redemption, a little bit of success in the face of distress; a little bit about remembering that what appears to be the worst thing can turn out to be the best."

“A door closed,” McHugh said, “and a world opened.”

I love this guy! If he's paying attention, he's just learned how it all works. If you study this story, you'll see how the Big Universe works in your Life.

1. Never doubt. Your Good is At Play even in the face of what appears to be the worst thing. Your Good is Always At Play.
2. When that door shuts, if you are maintaining the internal attitude of my Good just showed up, I'm watching for it with conviction - then, truly, the New World of Your Good just opened up.
3. Never, look back. Lot's wife did and turned into a pillar of salt.
4. There's always more Good...

As to the energy of Detroit, which I mentioned above. Detroit is a city that is in dire need of an attitude adjustment. The vibrational signature of Detroit is largely one of lack. Certainly they have had their challenges, and continue to have them. This is all of our challenge, to change our vibrational station within. But if anyone in Detroit is watching this story of McHugh, the answer to changing your town is in this story. You cannot keep looking at what is and not expect to get even more of what is. Somehow you have to find a way of lining up with what you want. McHugh was lined up with what he wanted - Life, success, his Good.

Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports goes on to write about McHugh,

McHugh is a blue-collar guy from outside of Cleveland. He knows how fortunate he is to play a single down in the NFL, let alone parts of four seasons with his current salary. He’s hesitant to compare his situation to the estimated 2.6 million Americans who lost their jobs in 2008.

He wasn’t living check to check. He was pursuing a dream.

This paragraph is revealing about our mindset as Americans. First, McHugh is from Cleveland, where I live right now, and I can tell you there is a "downer" going on here. The upside of this is that I'm hoping many of the folks from Cleveland who think they are doomed to a life of struggle, will identify with their hometown lad, who changed his life by believing in his Good. And the other thing - since when was pursing your dream a luxury afforded only to a few? Pursing your dream is everything, especially now. This is America; it is our right to pursue our happiness. It even says so in the Declaration of Independence.

Wouldn't everyone, in Detroit, in Cleveland, in the whole world, have a better, happier, vibrational countenance if you were pursuing your dream rather than working paycheck to paycheck, just for the money? Now there's a concept.

It's all about joy, folks. All of it. Every single bit of it. Pursue the joy, feel happy inside, and watch the doubt and fear dissolve when you're happily following your dream. Money, success, and joy are not mutually exclusive, you know. They go hand in hand.

My sincere thanks and appreciation to Dan Wetzel of Yahoo News for writing such a perceptive article. Study it. It's a living, breathing example of Applied Spirituality and it contains everything you need to know to have a successful life. Period.

Thanks for reading!

Each Day

Good Day Everyone,

It looks like we just might get some rain up here today! That would be wonderful.

I'm thinking lately how fearful people seem to be. What really concerns me is how they now automatically assume the worst, even in little things. Optimism seems to have vanished in lieu of doom and pessimism being the first and most immediate responses.

I think this is the result of conditioning over time. Acclimation to bad news in the absence of a healthy balance of the good news. This is what happens to us, inch by inch, and day by day unless we learn to sift out the wheat from the chaff and think for ourselves. This is what happens when we listen constantly to the "talking heads" whether they be on TV or on radio and absorb "their" thoughts rather than thinking our own.

Head in the sand you say? Denial? Perhaps. But isn't their slant on things the same thing? There are plenty of wondrous things happening all over the world which never get a mention. Everyday miracles happen, well being abounds and it is patently ignored. The news and news worthy items are more than just doom and bad news, it is the totality of what is happening in proportionate mention. This isn't being covered fairly. If it were, there would be more good news in full view in preponderance. Didn't the sun come up this morning? Did not the stars make their rotation on time? Is not your body working this morning? Didn't you have food on the table?

Certainly we are all working with challenges, but we are the Creators. When we feel a pinch, a feeling of dis-ease, it rises up in us a desire for well being and we ASK. IT is granted. If we allow this well being to flow into us, it manifests. Nothing is beyond our reach. There is so much more hope than not.

I was listening yesterday to Eckart Tolle's new book, In the Presence of a Great Mystery.
Thing is, it's not a mystery. It's in full view of you if you would but observe. Believe your own observations rather than buying into what "they" say.

Tolle speaks so specifically about the silence in between the words. It is the silence where the ground of God, yourSelf is. When we continually pray (ask, beg, beseech) we are sending. Even in a two-way radio on has to say"OVER" to let the other person speak. So try this. At the end of your askings, be still and listen. You've asked. You've been heard. Now hold yourself in the attitude of reception and allow your blessing to flow on in. The system has worked since the beginning of time. Pay attention and you'll see that it is so for yourself.

With Life

Today it's good afternoon almost evening...

When I speak before audiences, one of my favorite speeches is about the Love-Angstrom Meter. It's an invention of my own imagination that would measure the amount of LIFE in something.

We would have Love-Angstrom Meters hooked up to our TV screens. We would have a Love-Angstrom Meter in every emergency room at every hospital. In fact, it would be like the metal detectors at the airport. You'd have to pass through that in order to get into the emergency room. What it would tell them is how much LIFE are you allowing to flow through your beingness.

The Love Angstrom Meter would also measure - as you might guess - the amount of Truth in something, the amount of Love in something, the Quality of Life moving through someone or something or words, even our creations.

We might even have wrist versions of this little gizmo for a quick Self check-up.
After meditating in the morning you might be registering a healthy 87%. After traveling through rush hour traffic you might notice you've dipped to 47% and feeling pretty lousy. So you pop outside to take a break, breathe some fresh air, empty your mind and voila, you're back at 85%. Pretty good to go back into work and add some LIFE into your project.

The thing is, we already are equipped with a Love Angstrom Meter, each and every one of us. IT's that God-chip we all have in common. It is constantly registering to us the Love and Life and Truth content of everything we come in contact with. It's vibrating wildly in rapturous joy when we're playing with the cat, drawing at our art table, singing songs, all the things we love to do.

And it is most conspicuous by it's ABSENCE (which feels lousy) when we're about doing things, saying things, seeing things, focusing on things, people, places and thoughts that have No LIFE in them. Dead. Dying. Lifeless. Our Spirit is a long ways off while we insist on keeping our proverbial hand on the hot stove. (Who the heck taught us that this was a good thing?)

My cat, Woody, is curled up right next to my laptop as I am writing this, and he's purring away like a motor boat. I'm thinking he's loving the vibration of these words and glad I'm doing what I love to do. But then, often, I've sensed from him a complete puzzlement as I'm laboring with something I hate or moaning about something. He pretty much is NOT present for those kinds of vibrations out of me.

Love and Life love to be around Love and Life. And what I know is, the absence of Love is always painful to us. Why? Because this is WHO WE REALLY ARE. Love. Life. Goodness. God.

We feel best when we are congruent with these High, Fast and Pure Frequencies. And we feel lousy or sick when our human mind - devoid of Self - is calling the shots.

How do we use our built-in Love-Angstrom Meter to navigate the "real world"? We notice how we feel. When we are allowing It, it feels good and things go well and easily, serendipity time. When we are resisting It, blocking it, it feels bad and things in the "real world" are usually going from bad to worse.

How can we DO (apply) this? We relax. We breathe. We hold thoughts like anything good is possible. We put the "can't" ideas firmly and deliberately up on the shelf and await in child-like trust that when I allow It, it is always Good, efficient, inspired even magical.....and then the "real world" is pretty darn good too.

Now...Breathe!!! That's it. You can ...allow...It...in. Say Hello, for pitisake, It is YOU.

Thanks for reading. k

The Free Willies

Good Day!

For the past six years I have worked part time for the public library system. Really up until then I'd not been a big user of the library. I think it was because as a child I really didn't enjoy reading. Now that they have talking books, I've become a voracious "reader". I listen to books in the car, while gardening, cooking, and my favorite time, as I'm drifting off to sleep. I think I love this best because it reminds me of when my Gram used to tell us her stories. Boy, could she make up some whoppers. I, of course, believed every word.

Libraries are amazing places because it is where the example of REAL freedom LIVES. Period.

Did you know that libraries protect your right to read whatever you desire and your privacy to do so? Did you know that your library protects your right to choose any book you want to read by allowing it to be there? Did you know that if there's a particular title you would like your library to have in it's collection, they will acquire it? (Budget permitting, of course. But you can always donate it.)

I love that on the shelves in the non-fiction sections, books of all manner of ideas and ideologies sit side-by-side. I never see them taking a swipe at each other, either just because they have opposing view points. It is the perfect example of allowing. It is the perfect example of freedom.

America is the place where every idea and ideology is allowed, even welcomed. Even the ones you don't like or don't agree with. It is the place of the buffet of thought. The freedom we are guaranteed is the freedom of choice. So you can go into the library and cruise the stacks and see what interests you or see what interests others. The point is that you get to choose, because the choice is there. We get to choose to explore something new, something strange, something weird, something exhilarating, something boring, something old....But the point is, WE GET TO CHOOSE BECAUSE THE CHOICE IS AVAILABLE.

What an undertaking the founding fathers passed on to us. The undertaking to be the guardians of allowing all thoughts to exist for our choice.

It seems to imply to me that they believed so completely in the wisdom and goodness of a soul, that there is no danger in allowing such choice amongst infinite variety of options. Let all choice be available. Think about it!

The essence of freedom is the freedom to choose what we will focus on. We can, for example, choose to focus on the negative. It is wholly up to each one where they will focus, is it not? Or we can choose to focus on something positive. So the question is wholly sovereign to each individual. It is the collection of these individual choices at any given moment that create a life and its quality. The fork in the road is every moment.

The news has large sway in our society. Televisions are turned to News. The radios to Talk Radio. The Internet to...what's your choice?

When my boys were little I recall telling them that they had to be guardians of what went into them. That is to say with respect to food or drink or music or news or television, they had to be "selective sifters" of all stuff. Garbage in, garbage out. What you consumed or gave focus to would come out of you. Your choice.

How is this applied spirituality? Your God-chip, your trueSelf delights when you choose something your love or delight in. You know your Self is "with you"by how it feels to you. Does it make you feel easy, light, good, inspired, delighted, encouraged, well, happy, energetic, alive? Go for it! You're aligned, connected and in tune with You.
IF it doesn't? Turn it off. Change the channel. Change your focus, for yourSelf has left on wings of fun and will not join you in anything without Life in it.

You always get to choose, here in the land where every conceivable idea is welcomed. You have the Free Willies.

What a powerful place and time we live in: a consciousness that allows every idea to abide because we believe we each have the wisdom to choose what is good for ourselves at any given moment. I'd say that's a fearless society. That's America where we acknowledge that everyone has that same God-chip.
