Death as An Advisor

Good Day All that Is,

It's a perfect day here in San Diego. But then, we have a lot of them. I'd call it an 11 because it's still cool.

So the question is, what are you waiting for? Hmm? I'll add another question to that one: why aren't you where you want to be? Hmm? If you make a list of all the things you think got in your way, re-read it. Now listen. They were all you. All of them.

Life isn't a dress rehearsal. Today is the day. Today is the one you have. That's it. One day at a time is how you get them. Why the lethargy? Over-busy? Doing what you really want to do? Being with the folks you want to be with? Creating that which makes you pleased with yourself? Derailed?

Using death as your advisor is the wisest counselor you could entertain. Think about it. What if just before you plot your day, or say something to someone, or make a plan you asked yourself, "If I knew I were going to die tomorrow, would I do this? Would I say this? Would I think this was really meaningful to me? Would I scratch it pronto? or What then would I move to the top of the list? What else would I say? To whom would I say it? What project would I turn my focus to with full throttle? What would I stop doing? What would I do differently if I had the chance?"

Well, you have today. You have the chance. You have the time.

For me the bottom-line question is: "Is what I am focusing on today, saying this minute, being now going to make me say to myself when I'm heading to the other side, well done, Kath."

No more excuses, no more blame. Just bloody well get on with it! Make love. Create your opus. Play. Make your impact! Take up your bed and walk. Live it deeply and slowly and meaningfully. Bring the fullness of yourSELF to now, to the project, to the conversation to your physicality. Apply your Spirit in every facet of your life. Watch yourself change the way things are done, accepted and perceived because you brought yourSElf to the table.

That is when either/or transforms to "and". That's when solutions show up that no one could have imagined. That's when It IS ANSWERED.

Talk to death today and take its advice....

Love

Good Day Everyone,

Love is the issue. Truly. It's always the issue. For every closed heart there's the idea of the lack of love.

I was watching a wonderful movie last evening, In Her Shoes. Of course the subject of this movie was the love and friendship of two sisters. I have two sisters, so I was glued.

Today I met with two friends that I hadn't seen in - according to their record-keeping seven years. One is the lady who bought my home at the beach and the other was our realtor. Nice, isn't it? We are friends! I love that about my life, the people I do business with are my friends or become my friends.

But I've also found that one need be very careful to think or feel smug about the issues of love.
Where still is there something left unfinished or unsaid. Why have you left it in such a state?
I really don't care what you "think" was "done" to you or you "did", love transcends the whole issue if that's what you intend. I have a friend who advises us to all use death as our advisor. Try that one on in your most recent quarrel. Now would you rather be right or happy?

How I wish we could somehow take this new generation of young children and teach them only how they are loved. Support in them their own knowing of being infinite, eternal and God-complete beings. How I wish we could interrupt the "human mind" ideas of hate, and "other" and bad. Oh How much I wish this for us all, for us all.

I carry this in my heart the absolute possibility that one day on this planet called earth we will Remember Who We Really Are. We will not be afraid. We will love with our hearts wide open and we will know that there is enough for everyone to be abundant, there is infinite supply and that we are each one of us Creator.

I wish...

Evoltion 101

Good Morning Everyone,
I just noticed I've not blogged since Wednesday. Sigh. Life got in the way, me thinks.
Do you remember the fable of the Tortoise and the Hare? For those who don't know this one, it's
illustrated beautifully and simply at the following website:
http://us.penguingroup.com/static/packages/us/yreaders/aesop/index.html

The Moral, of course, is slow and steady wins the race.

I'm in the process of taking a brand new fork in the road. The learning curve on this path is vertical. They should show the tortoise climbing Mt. Everest. And along this tortoise's path are scary things - html tags!, keywords! copyrighting! and the big one...marketing! Another name for Lions and Tigers and Bears, OH MY! I'm mixing metaphors now, but Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz was in no stranger land than I am right now.

But what an adventure! We are never more alive when we have a FOCUS! I love learning something new. I love having a new focus. What I have to tell my human mind is this: slow down and enjoy the process here. There's fun in the details, in the nitty gritty of it. When I can even notice that I'm resisting the process and trying to blast through it, that's the first step in ease.

Now I sit down to the computer and think of it like blocks from the Lego Kit. We're building a castle or a moat, but it's in cyberspace. All these little meta tags and html do-hickeys are Lego blocks and isn't it fun to see what will happen next?

When I start fretting about the time it takes me to learn all this stuff and get it into play, I have to think, "What are you going on about? What could you be worry about now? Money? Timing?"
And of course my human mind is vigorously shaking her head, "Yep, you dope, what else?"

And that's when I laugh. I smile. I breathe. I recall the Life force that is carried on my breath and realize the infinite possibilities, the infinite timing, the perfection of all my good. My good is always there, always here. I am supported beyond measure.

Take this blog site. I had no idea how to get it registered. I simply asked a question on the blogspot board how-can-I? And do you know what? Over 300 people responded to me with an answer to HELP ME. Wow. I don't even know them. But I asked, and you betcha....IT WAS ANSWERED!

So, slow and steady. Breathe. And laugh at the lions and tigers and bears along the way. It's only your human mind setting up a trip wire. Connect, breathe and bring your God-chip in on the trip. It's a whole lot more fun and there's plenty of friends and support along the way. That's Applied Spirituality in action.

You're A Natural

Good Evening Everyone,

I'm late in writing my blog today because we had WEATHER here in San Diego County. Yep. Rain. Real Rain. Wow. I love it when we finally get real weather here. After the past two weeks of Indian Summer, this is wonderful. I actually think we got at least an inch, maybe more. And up here in the mountains we got the "chunky rain". Yahoo! I confess I didn't want to be down in my office, but rather upstairs with my fireplace going. So, that's what I did.

I've been taking marketing classes from two fabulous guys, Gino Niccoli and Terry Duff of the Dream Team. Tonight's call was the Mindset Class which Gino teaches. Always his class is mind stretching. But you know what, I think more than that, it's the stuff we all want to talk about and chew on everyday, but human life just gets in the way of it. It's the old time talking about philosophy, and spirituality, and how it all comes together here in the physical. I LOVE that stuff. That, is Applied Spirituality. I wrote Gino that we'd lived parallel lives. I love meeting a kindred spirit, curious, alive, and generous of spirit to share with others what we've figured out.

Tonight I want to address a common misconception: humans are lazy. No way. Remember that we've been "humanized", that is to say we've been acculturated, socialized, religionized and propagandized since we got here. And everything "they" told us was based on "them" getting the same brain wash. Rub-a-dub dub. The problem with the "education" we all received was that it was based on a huge fat lie, the one that believes we are separated from Source. It's the Biggest Fib ever told. It's our belief. And really, folks, absolutely everything that has come since has been based on that one. Now. Just now the Truth is surfacing into mainstream consciousness. Just now we are finding ourselves on the cutting edge of that new thought. We are neanderthals in learning and realizing our oneness. Still many obstacles are to be met along this path. Some of you will meet up with religious obstacles. Some of you with socialized obstacles, i.e. entitlements.
Others will find some twig to stumble over like God and Science aren't the same thing. But keep your intentions for Truth and Freedom (remember the Truth WILL set you free) in your cross hairs at all times.

I remember throwing my hands heavenward in about the year 1990 and saying "that's it. I don't want to hear about God from anyone ever again. I'll hear It for myself or I won't." That's when the magic happened. I turned to ME. Not the human me, Kath, but rather the Infinite, God-chip Me. The I AM of me. You will turn inward too, eventually. You can't help but. You are IT's tractor beam. You may turn Within when the doctor says, "I can't help you." You may turn Within when your finances bring you to your knees. You may turn to your I AM when your life is out of control. You may turn Within when a disaster hits. You can go quietly and eagerly and deliberately and gently....my personal choice, although that's not how I did it. Or you can go when you're on your knees and the 2x2 that hit you in the head twenty years ago is now a 12x12. But you will go Within and find the most Natural part of you. That part of you that is and has always been your inalienable Self. Remember, oh please, remind yourself that all are created equal = that's the God-chip. That's the You of You. That, dearest, is Who You Really Are.

It won't shout welcome home, but you'll feel it like a lover's whisper on your cheek.

It's only Natural.

Listening Within

Last Thursday evening was the inaugural class of Applied Spirituality! I am privileged to be addressing a lovely group of women in Crest, CA. A side note is that during the 2003 fires a vast portion of Crest Mountain burned and many homes were lost. I arrived on Crest Mt. early that day and had a chance to tour around, even stop and visit the Crest Library. Many homes are still under construction and certainly the character of Crest has changed from a sleepy little village to a town that is starting to look much like any other down the "hill". Crest Library, however, didn't burn and continues to reside in a small bungalow. They have two public pc's and a tidy collection.
Crest Library is a part of the San Diego County Library so folks there have access to all 33 branches via the ordering system.

The first class went well, conducted in the home of one of the members. They are a lovely and eager group of women who are reaching for "more". More freedom. They intellectually know God but are now reaching to feel that connection and live it. They want to contribute their skills, talents and wisdom in the world. They want to feel fearless. They want to be abundant doing the thing they love. They are not unlike everyone else. They are not unlike You.

There is a PRACTICE. Like learning to play basketball, ice skate, play the violin, read, or learn math, it takes practice. We have a spiritual channel with a direct connection from within. And most of us, long ago, were taught to listen in our heads and not in our being. So what we hear in our head is "human mind". The human logic which is based on the lie of separation.

The subject of the first class was the lie of separation. In order to understand how "disconnection" happened and how pervasive it is, one has to understand that somewhere, somehow we collectively had some type of event that made us feel separated. Perhaps it was simply deciding to come into planet Earth, the farthest reaches from Source Energy where everything is able to be made material. Certainly we understood, knew without doubt, that we would always be connected to Source, but the "distance" in vibration is so vast that we feel disconnected, even though we are never. Maybe this was the ultimate Game.

I have often thought that between incarnations to various destinations there's a place, a sort of cosmic travel agency, where we go to decide where our next adventure will be. In there there's a rack with Cosmic Brochures to exotic destinations. The one for Earth advertises all the benefits of living in a physical, material world: Feel the wind in your hair! Make love with a body! Eat delicious foods of infinite variety! See your thoughts made manifest into actual physical creations! And the fine print says: "In order to enjoy planet Earth you must Remember Who You Really Are, Feel your Connection to Source and reclaim your Freedom!"

You know how good it feels when someone you love strokes your hair, puts their arms around you and assures you of how much you are loved? That feeling of assurance is available within.
Hebrews 13:5...for He hath said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. We must pick up the phone and listen for the still, small voice that whispers within.

Start your day with a breathing meditation. Take into your mind one single thought of Truth, perhaps the one above. Breath. Follow your respirations and listen within. We pray so much. We ask so much. We are sending so much. Stop transmitting and like in the CB radios, turn the switch over to "reception mode" and say, "Over."

The evolution of man is in process from the outward looking, outward dependency to the Within.
You are complete. You are replete. I promise you. Listen.

Evolutionary, Not Revolutionary

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Hope you're in fine form after another St. Paddy's Day!

In my last blog I spoke about sound as a possible source of fuel. Subsequently I found a site called CR4 where there are discussions about things like this and threw the question out there. And yes, there is something called thermalacoustics.....it's a start. Check out the site. I love so much the web and the technology so that we call share ideas and information from person to person. You know, we can kick start an idea and see where it might go. Thanks to all who responded to my query!
http://www.cr4.globalspec.com

In all things we need to keep in mind that things here on planet earth are evolutionary, not revolutionary. From personal change to change on the planet, in all things. The reason for this is
consciousness, expansion, and vibration in thought form. We can experience sudden and quantum changes. We can allow that to happen and we can experience it. Seldom, though, is the consciousness necessary for the change to stabilize and take root available, however. An example is perhaps someone who wins the lottery and does not havee the "consciousness" of wealth and prosperity. Within a period of time their, situation will revert to where it was prior to the win.

The work is done in individual consciousness one moment at a time. One focused thought at a time. One subject at a time. Wherever you've left your vibration on any given subject is where you've left it. It's no different than knitting. When you put it down, it's complete only to the point where last you set it down.

If you're working on the consciousness of health, take the place where you are and begin working that thought upwards ever so slightly to a higher vibrational thought, it feels just a wee bit better than the doom thought you're dwelling on now. And work with that for a few days and then you can reach higher...and again....and again, one wee better thought at a time. You stabilize at each step.

You do this process on any subject where you "feel" yourself resistant. Space travel, sound as fuel, love, war.....come on America....let's start raising those thoughts to higher vibrations. I think we've had enough of a run in the muck of fear and doom.

Start with yourself. Start with your fear and find the next highest, better feeling thought and don't stop until you feel.....FREE! Remember, it is evolutionary, not revolutionary for lasting change.

Sound Energy

Good Morning All!

I continue taking my classes with Dream Team. A bargain at twice the price!

Gino was talking last night about how our thoughts are carried on and perpetuated for generations to manifest after us. For example: DaVinci dreamed of flying machines. He drew pictures of them, and surely talked about them to anyone who might listen. A wonder they didn't lock him up in a nice soft cell. And then the Wright Brothers picked up the thread of thought and ran with it. Today we are looking at commercial flights into space. That is exciting to me. I hope to do that one day.

My grandmother, who I grew up with in our home, was born in 1900. She moved over to the other side at 91. I have many times imagined what changes she witnessed in that century. From no automobiles to walking on the moon, computers, etc. She seemed to take it all in good stride, I might add.

For me I have a dream, a thought that persists. I dream of sound energy being used as fuel. I tried Googling the idea with not much luck. I am wondering if anyone out there knows of anyone anywhere that is doing research on this. With the increased focus on high petroleum costs and now, finally, a refocus to alternative fuels, wouldn't it be wonderful to find something that had no pollution to it. Although I am given to understand that hydrogen fuel has no by products.

When I was a child I recall the phrase, "good old American ingenuity". What ever happened to that? Why would we ever tolerate being held hostage for fuel? The greed factor? Complacency?
Whatever it has been, we have to get over it and get on with creating our own reality now. It involves asking the question, which we have, and then allowing the Infinite Intelligence to answer it.

We must ask the right questions, as well. When we are focused only on what we know already, we exclude the infinite possibilities. John Kennedy proposed that we fly to the moon at a time when we simply didn't have the technology to do such a thing. He had a dream, a vision. As Gino would say, A Definite Target. Then with a year to spare, in 9 years we did so. His vision sparked a whole lot of questions, and they were answered, one step at a time.

I am throwing out my dream to all of us: What about sound as a viable, clean energy that is cheap and available anywhere? Let's re-Connect with Infinite Intelligence with our Good Old American Ingenuity and for the good of all - developing companies included - find that New Way through a new View. Let's Apply our Spirituality, hook it up and allow the way to be shown.

Come on, America! There's absolutely nothing we can't do. But we gotta let go of the past.

Indian Summer In March

Good Morning World!

True to form for about the past week here in San Diego County we've been experiencing Indian Summer. I know this is supposed to happen in October, but there it is. It is this time of the year when we have perfect "11" weather.

It's 77 degrees. Not a breath of those dang Santa Anas. The birds are awake and singing up a storm. It is just sweet out there. And here it comes, the urge to PLANT! Whoa! Every year this happens, but now I know better. Resist the urge unless it loves cold weather. I did succumb and buy pansies and johnny-jump-ups. I also have spinach growing in tubs. Yesterday I about killed myself transplanting things whilst they are still "asleep". Yet I noticed the wisteria have buds on them, the lilacs have small green buds coming out. The daffodils are blooming and the paper whites are finished. Can you see why this climate is so deadly to plants? They get tricked into blooming out, and whammy, the cold comes back and kills them.

It's also a trick to our psyches. It's not time to move forth. It's still winter, the hibernation time. The time for introspection, reflection, and most of all sitting with the still small voice in silence.

Ever since moving to California some 30 years ago I just couldn't adjust to this infernal sunshine day in and day out. Please, God, a cloud...any cloud. Something to break up all that blue. Weather, any kind of weather, just bring me something other than sunny and warm, sunny and hot. Then I discovered the mountains and it is better. My soul has a chance to "season". There truly is a season for everything and if we don't pay attention and give it it's due, we are off balance. I know those living in the Midwest and East are sick of the cold weather by now, but perhaps that's why they are more "sane". There is a time to rest. An excuse not to "go". A real reason not to take the car out. It's OK to hunker down, enjoy the fire and snooze. How many of us in Southern California actually DO that?

When I first moved up to the mountains back in 1992 it took me quite awhile to learn to just be.
Not rush around, not have to accomplish. It was painful. My mind kept jack-hammering me to get up, do something. Yet, I knew, I was not connected with mySelf. So I sat and rocked and watched the birds, rabbits, squirrels and leaves on the live oak trees. I tried to remember what it was like to feel the rhythm of Life. It took awhile, but I did. And I do.

How much is feeling the rhythm of Life a part of your day? Do you go to the ocean and watch the sunset? I used to when I lived in Leucadia. It was a sort of ritual to walk up to the cliff along with a few others and watch it descend with the sky performing a light show of colors. Twice I was treated to a real view of a green flash. Wow.

We are, we humans, a part of Nature. The rhythm of the tides, the currents of air, the earth, the birds, the rocks, the sounds of Life. It's that separation from Nature, All That Is, that makes us nuts. That feeling of separation is what makes us pollute and destroy. That separation is what makes us go to war.

Your challenge? Take some part of everyday and decide to "go home". Feel your belonging to All That Is. Feel your connection and delight with Nature. Go check out the now abundant Pelicans at the seashore. Go notice if the cardinals are perched or has Robin Redbreast returned. Notice something, then go deeper and feel your connection and place in IT ALL.

More Than A Dream

You may wonder how I'm doing now that I'm "unemployed" and on my own again....Well, pretty darn good.

Now that's not to say I haven't been experiencing some really strange adjustments. The biggest of which is my mindset. I am surprised at how much of an automaton I had become having to be somewhere at a certain time, scheduled. It was a good thing when I needed structure, to be sure. But in the last year it was like outgrowing a pair of shoes. I didn't have time to think, read, research, create, dream. I find myself being weaned from structure and moving towards a more organic way of moving towards my "target" not my goal.

I just learned this tonight. Thank you Gino Niccoli of Dream Team. I often wondered, why in the past, when someone said to set your goals I always flinched. Just didn't feel right to me. And the minute I would set them, I knew, I just knew I would absolutely NOT do it. I even started to laugh at myself when I discovered the strategy of "sneaking up on myself". No. Really. I would get all dressed to work in the yard, grubbys on, ratty shoes and then go into the office and put in about 6 hours of creative writing. Likewise, if I wanted to work in the yard....you have no idea how many nightgowns I've ruined. But by "opposite" I would make my way to my "TARGET".

I'm in the process of taking a course that I found online. It's a marketing course, but much, much more. Proves the Law of Attraction is answering all the time. I have found support for my work in Applied Spirituality and...get this...AND learning the art of marketing. Marketing is a hole in my education.

Tonight's class was about mindset. Mindset has been my life's focus with Applied Spirituality. How can we get the life we want? How in the heck are we creating the whole of our own reality?
As Kushner says, "Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People?" For 30 years I've wrestled these questions. Read. Researched. Listened Within. Stopped listening without. Found my way, heard the answers. And now begin to launch this work into the world.

My Mom asked me the other day, "How do you do what you do? Where do you find the strength to do this" My answer was, "Sometimes I wish I could do it differently, Mom. It's just Me. The Me of Me saying....there's more. It's time. Yes, You can."

So I leap. So I move forward. Because for me in the end when it's all said and done I want more than Life itself to be able to say with the deepest sense of content and fulfillment, "Well Done, Kath. You Did."

Dem Bones

Good Morning World!

Last evening a friend informed me of a television show on the Discovery Channel called, The Bones of Christ. I called my Dad to record it for me should he have the chance. Then, of course, I realized that this is going to be some bruhaha just like the DaVinci Code.

Remember yesterday's blog about bias? Where does your mind close down because it becomes afraid? How harmful can a new thought be? It's just an idea. And what if, just what if....some part of it may have some truth in it?

The idea the Jesus may have had a family is certainly not a new thought. The Last Temptation of Christ put it forth in technicolor. Many, many books have been written putting forth that hypothesis. I find it interesting. The Urantia Book says that he did not. That he was in love with a woman but did not pursue it for his larger mission here. That he was to leave no issue and to leave no written words.

We all know what the Bible says on the subject.

But my question is what does it matter? Why the upheaval? Why all the furor?

My answer is that it shakes to the core what we have been taught and where we have blindly put our faith...in something other, something external to ourSelf. The good part of these controversies is that it does break down the worshiping of something external to ourSelf. The evolution of reclaiming the power from outside to within proceeds inexorably.

The concept of separation from Source is being rattled. The idea of less than Source is being shaken. God is not somewhere else or other than me or you.

Jesus was, like the Buddha, a mortal man who in his lifetime achieved the Christed Consciousness. In other words, he reconnected with his Source within his own consciousness and reclaimed his oneness. He remembered Who He Really Was. He demonstrated for us what we, too, can do. He wanted us to follow him not worship him.

John 14:12 - 14
Verily, verily, I say unto you,
He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also;
and greater works than these shall he do;
because I go unto my Father.

Why do we want there to be someone else to save us? Why do we want to be beggars at the buffet of Life? We are God having a physical experience here. We are the Creators of our experience. All of it, every last bit of it. There is no "other" that we can beg mercy from, favors or pity. We understood all this before we came in. We knew we could remember our inheritance.

Perhaps we should stop taking someone else's word for it. Stop asking for some one else's interpretation. Go within. Ask and it is granted. You are It. You are connected directly. You are One with It. It's spirituality applied, it's physics. It's the Truth. It's Good News!

Bumping Into Labels

Good Afternoon World!

Very slow start today. We're having Santa Ana winds up here, the natural follow up to a good rain. Why would we possibily want to leave any moisture in the ground?

Did you know that in San Diego County we have 14 of the 16 world climates? I think it's true. I know someone out there will let me know if I'm wrong. Last week was proof positive of it. On Wednesday morning I woke to a winter wonderland up here and slid sideways down my driveway. I didn't get out until around noon when it warmed to 40 degrees. I'm sure in town they think we're delusional or liars up here.

Anyway, the wind. Yes, it is the psychic stick that stirs the pot. They go on for days and stir up any unfinished business you have with yourself. Woody, my cat, loves WATCHING the wind, but doesn't venture out. I think they're useful, but there are times when you simply raise the white flag and cry "Uncle!" Then it's time to head to the beach for a good dose of negative ions, or is it the positive ones.

Labels are our bias. It's where we try to catalogue and categorize all the information into what we believe is.....good or bad. We will shake you loose eventually from those polar positions!

The danger in clinging to those labels is that anyone can have a great idea, a new view, a better option, a new product, a wonderful play, a neat opinion, a revelation.
But if it comes from one of those labeled places, you won't pay attention. And further someone on the news is probably going to make it a bad idea, spin it all up into a knot, and then tell you why you should think it's a bad idea, too.

I think that's why I like the internet so much. It's consciousness. A lot of the bias is removed in simply a silent, printed word. You can read the words, feel the veracity of them for yourself and make a choice. Television and even radio are different, with pictures, music, color. Well, maybe that's why I like books, too. They simply tell their story in a printed word with no theatrics.

So bumping into labels like conservative, democrat, liberal, republican, really cripples us as a people, but cripples individuals from growing and expanding into more. Who care where a good idea came from, let's have it!

Oh, I remember reading somewhere in the past years that there had been a civilization on planet earth that used SOUND as their energy to move around. The only idea I could relate that to was the old Memorex commercial where the soprano's voice hit a beautiful high note that shattered the glasses. Now, if I told you that was channeled information (from the other side) how many of you would just stop listening, reading, or throw out the idea. But there you have it, why not? Why not sound? I don't think it has carbon monoxide as a by product. Why not explore the idea? But if you've bumped into a label, disguised as your fear, now's the time for you to have a look. How many times a day do you turn away, discount, ignore, dismiss something because you labeled it a bad thing. Boy, what you're missing...
the rest of God.

Focus

Good Day All!

The entire question is where will you FOCUS your Life Force today? That is your ultimate freedom and choice, I think it's called Free Will. You always get to choose. So, let's talk about your choices.

In 1946 Victor Frankel wrote Man's Search for Meaning. He writes about his years in German concentration camps as a prisoner. Now tell me how bad you have it....In those circumstances Frankel came to profoundly understand that he still had complete sovereignty over what he focused on. He was the master of his own focus, his thoughts. He had become a "selective sifter". Amid what can only be partially imagined at best, he found a way to focus his Life Force and be well.
Somewhere in the Bible I believe it is said (paraphrased) if you make you bed in hell, I'll be there too. It is always with You, because It is You. It is not out there somewhere else. It is, at last, where It has always been within. That Still Small Voice, your very own God-chip. Your Geiger counter, your Pole Star, yourSelf.

Wendell Berry wrote:

The Peace of Wild Things

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

The operative word: free. He chose his focus, he finds his freedom. He finds that Peace that passes human understanding. He practices - applies his spirituality. Applied Spirituality.

The wild things have no human mind to argue them out of well being. Today, notice your pet. Notice a tree. Contemplate their perfect state of well being. The only difference is they know nothing of "other", nothing of "evil", nothing of "human mind", "logic". They know only their perfect and complete well being. You have the ability to be in well being, as well. To choose your focus, to find the God (good) in all things, to see nothing outside of It.

Try it. For a day, then perhaps a week. Put that puppy back on the paper of well being every time you notice it trying to find anything other than Good.....you can do it!

Endings are Beginnings

Today is my last day with San Diego County Libraries. It's been a fantastic run. Yesterday my co-workers at the Alpine Branch had a farewell party for me. We're a small branch with 4 permanent positions and a student worker, Kelly. We all gathered in the back room for carrot cake and conversation and presents. The card they gave me expressed their love for me and support for moving on to pursue my dreams. The gift - a treasure box decoupaged with a map of the world. Inside, a fairy holding a butterfly in her wee hands. I, of course, wept at this outpouring of love and support.

This has been the way of it with SDCL. From the very beginning as a substitute at the Descanso Branch, I have been loved and supported along my path. When my house burned down in 2002 they were there with gifts, love, money....people I didn't even know. And when the big fire happened in 2003, the library - no, the people - were on the other end of the phone wanting to know where I was, how I was, how could they help? When I couldn't come home, there was a place to live for me and my cat for 6 weeks. Always, always this governmental bureaucracy has been about love. We are trained that way in the Academy to tend to our patron's needs, questions, concerns. We rarely, if ever, say no. WE can, and we want to help.

This blog today is in tribute to the library and particularly to the people who so fundamentally understand that human nature is divine. Everyday they support that individual divinity, that individual God-chip in each of us to be free, to fly, to learn, to become, to realize Who We Really Are. Everyday in every library across this country (God Bless Dewey!), librarians and library techs work to serve that individual freedom to think, to learn, to dream, to create, to become. I will go so far as to say that if there is any one single place in America where Real freedom lives and is at play every single day, it is only at the library. The library protects your right to read anything you desire and it protects your PRIVACY to do so.

The library is the place that demonstrates Real freedom. Every single idea is welcomed for you to peruse, to chew on, to espouse, to reject. And every single idea is welcomed, because that's the nature of God, all inclusive, all are welcomed here. We get to choose that which we focus on.

When I was working in the La Mesa Branch (I love you guys!), I was privy, over time, to watch an immigrant couple from Russia. They had broken English, at best. Once I had signed them up with their cards and had explained, best I could, the library, they were astounded that this was all free. They went to work. First, they checked out English tapes and books, then elocution tapes, soon they were checking out books about business and importing and exporting. Then there were books about websites and web businesses. And then, from the public PC's they began an importing business. There it is. Everything you could possibly need to become, to realize your dreams. In the library there is only: "let's see how we can...."support you, find what you need, because we see Who You Are; Because we believe in You.

We work with the public in the library. The general public. We see everyone, all socio-economic levels, all intelligence levels, all races, creeds and beliefs walk through those doors. We love and support each and every one where they are and where they dream to go.

The San Diego County Libraries are generally funded by County Property Taxes. We are for the first time solvent and actually thriving. We have dedicated management with visionary thinking, we have devoted employees with heartfelt love of humanity. If the world is to change and become something better, you can believe it will have its inception and support in libraries in someway. Libraries are not only the place where Real Freedom lives and is applied every day, they are the place where applied spirituality is lived and applied every day, for every individual God-chip desiring something, imagining something, aspiring to something, is answered, honored and supported.

My personal experience with SDCL is not unique, but my gratitude for It, the institution, is boundless, and especially to the friends and people of the library, the Friends of the Libraries, you loved and supported me well. You taught me much. I so thank you.
